Blog #14: Music Video
Here is an example of a music video you can review to help you get some ideas:
Here is the link to ZAMZAR - a website that allows you to download video from the Internet. Good for this project. Once the video is downloaded, you can put it into i-Movie and then edit the sections that you want. The downloaded video link will be sent to you in an email. It's pretty easy to use...just follow the instructions. Suggested format is .mov.

Blog #11: Web 2.0 Tool
Web 2.0 Tool: STORYBIRD
Storybird
is a web 2.0 tool that allows you to create original illustrated books. You can
add your own text and select illustrations from several different artists. You have the option of sharing their
Storybird privately or publicly on the network. The final product can be
printed, watched on screen, or shared through a worldwide library.
Storybird
could be used in the classroom for the following:
· Create a children’s story on saving
money, budgeting, etc… (personal finance class)
· Use an original poem and create a
book with illustrations (english class)
· Create a book on a period of history
from a child’s perspective (social studies class)
· Create a book about the importance
of healthy eating and good fitness habits (health class)
To use Storybird, you need to create an
account. Once it is created, you browse through the various artists and select
a group of images for your book. Multiple artists can be used and you can
search by topics (for example, dogs; all artists with dog images would appear
to pick from).
As you
create each page, you select from the illustrations and add your own text.
Once you
are finished you can save and publish your book. You can make your book private
(only for viewing by those you select) or public (for all to see). You can also
order the book and have it printed and sent directly to you.

Blog #9: Word Clouds
I used Tagul.com for my first cloud. I went to www.ames.k12.ia.us and selected words from the website. I did this to follow the directions for the assignment. However, in Tagul, you can put in the URL for a website, filter the words (get rid of words like the, in, and, at, etc..) and create your cloud with a shape. I selected the square so it looked similar to some of the subway art that is now popular.
My second word cloud example is from tagxedo.com. This is a great website! You can use any of the provided shapes or upload your own shape and then use it to create your word cloud. Colors can be selected and the other thing you can do is invert the shape. I did not do that for this example. If I had, Herkey would have been white and the words would have appeared around the image. Definitely a very cool website!
